What’s up with SUMO – 18th February

Hello, SUMO Nation!

Another week, another blog post – and it’s me again… Aren’t you getting a bit bored with that? We hope to shake things up soon with some guest posts. Can you guess who will be our first guest writer this year? Let us know in the comments!

Welcome, new contributors!

If you just joined us, don’t hesitate – come over and say “hi” in the forums!

Contributors of the week

  • Mozilla Bangladesh people for their awesome SUMO Contributor Mentoring event in Dhaka! Awesome as always!
  • All the localizers who helped us with Firefox for iOS 2.0 updates for the recent launch. You rock!

We salute you!

Don’t forget that if you are new to SUMO and someone helped you get started in a nice way you can nominate them for the Buddy of the Month!

Most recent SUMO Community meeting

The next SUMO Community meeting…

  • …is happening on Monday the 22nd of February – join us!
  • Reminder: if you want to add a discussion topic to the upcoming meeting agenda:
    • Start a thread in the Community Forums, so that everyone in the community can see what will be discussed and voice their opinion here before Monday (this will make it easier to have an efficient meeting).
    • Please do so as soon as you can before the meeting, so that people have time to read, think, and reply (and also add it to the agenda).
    • If you can, please attend the meeting in person (or via IRC), so we can follow up on your discussion topic during the meeting with your feedback.

Localization

  • The Portuguese l10ns have met their monthly goal already – RAWR! Have you checked your locale’s dashboard recently?
  • The French l10ns have hit the 100% nail on the head again… Hooray! (and yes, a blog post about the latest Locasprint is hovering somewhere over there in the distance ;-))
  • Thanks to Safwan, the bravest of SUMO Warriors, for fixing this issue, which in turn should also fix this one and this one.
  • Reminder: we are deprioritizing Firefox OS content localization for now (more context here). If you have questions about it, let me know.
  • Reminder: goals for February can be found on your dashboards – go forth and localize!

Firefox

  • for Android
    • Talk about Version 44 in this thread.
    • Version 45 should not have compulsory add-on signing with preference override, but if that happens, you’ll hear about it in the forums – thanks, Roland!
  • for Desktop
    • Version 44.0.1 is here. Click and do let us know if you have issues with proxies, antivirus software, and certificates!

What’s your next voyage? I should be heading out to the (hopefully not so) rainy Emerald Isle to meet old friends and hang out with the leprechauns ;-) I hope to see you here next week!

    Hi Michał

    Video Links
I do not see last weeks (15th Feb) video on Air.Mozilla or on YouTube.

The last community meeting I see on YouTube was 1st Feb, so if we have stopped using YouTube links need changing on the Blog and elsewhere.

The KB questions thread has many posts asking questions but so far only one single initial reply from Joni17th Feb (https://support.mozilla.org/forums/knowledge-base-articles/711828?page=2#post-68343) :

“… I will address them individually (they are a lot to go through), but I wanted to clarify the context in the meantime. ….”

Joni may have offered a fuller explanation in the meeting, or an indication as to how quickly she would be able to start reviewing all those questions but no Video or update in the notes only the single post.
I think as some of the questions relate to Sumo policy, some of us Contributors, were expecting answers from Joni not just Lauren ( a hard working Intern).

    Cheers John
