Hello, SUMO Nation!
Another week, another blog post – and it’s me again… Aren’t you getting a bit bored with that? We hope to shake things up soon with some guest posts. Can you guess who will be our first guest writer this year? Let us know in the comments!
Welcome, new contributors!
Most recent SUMO Community meeting
- You can read the notes here and see the video on our YouTube channel and at AirMozilla.
- IMPORTANT: We are considering changing the way the meetings work. Help us figure out what’s best for you – join the discussion on the forums in this thread: (Monday) Community Meetings in 2016.
- We are planning to move the weekly community meeting to a different time slot – please state your preference now!
The next SUMO Community meeting…
- …is happening on Monday the 22nd of February – join us!
- Reminder: if you want to add a discussion topic to the upcoming meeting agenda:
- Start a thread in the Community Forums, so that everyone in the community can see what will be discussed and voice their opinion here before Monday (this will make it easier to have an efficient meeting).
- Please do so as soon as you can before the meeting, so that people have time to read, think, and reply (and also add it to the agenda).
- If you can, please attend the meeting in person (or via IRC), so we can follow up on your discussion topic during the meeting with your feedback.
Developers
- Reminder: the KPI dashboard has a new addition – the retention chart for incoming contributors… and it’s getting better colours, too!
- You can see the current state of the backlog our developers are working on here.
- The latest SUMO Platform meeting notes can be found here.
- Do you want to help us build Kitsune (the engine behind SUMO)? Read more about it here and fork it on GitHub!
Community
- Before Ashickur delivers a blog post about it for your reading pleasure, take a look at the coverage about the Dhaka Contributor Mentoring Day in Bangladesh:
- Final call for your feedback on this thread:
- Ongoing reminder: if you want to write a guest blog post for the SUMO blog, let us know in the comments! Two posts are in the pipeline, but we do have a lot of space for yours, trust me.
-
Ongoing reminder: if you think you can benefit from getting a second-hand device to help you with contributing to SUMO, you know where to find us.
Social
- Here’s the kick-off document for the social support program.
- …and in case you’ve missed the kick-off meeting, watch it on our YouTube channel!
- The mailing list is up: – subscribe now for all things Social/Support.
- Also, a wiki is in the works – stay tuned for more details!
- Reminder: We have a training out there for all those interested in Social Support – talk to Madalina or Costenslayer on #AoA (IRC) for more information.
Support Forum

Knowledge Base
- Lauren and Joni have answered many a question and comment regarding the recent updates to the documentation for new contributors: read all about it here!
Localization
- The Portuguese l10ns have met their monthly goal already – RAWR! Have you checked your locale’s dashboard recently?
- The French l10ns have hit the 100% nail on the head again… Hooray! (and yes, a blog post about the latest Locasprint is hovering somewhere over there in the distance ;-))
- Thanks to Safwan, the bravest of SUMO Warriors, for fixing this issue, which in turn should also fix this one and this one.
- Reminder: we are deprioritizing Firefox OS content localization for now (more context here). If you have questions about it, let me know.
- Reminder: goals for February can be found on your dashboards – go forth and localize!
Firefox
- for Android
- Talk about Version 44 in this thread.
- Version 45 should not have compulsory add-on signing with preference override, but if that happens, you’ll hear about it in the forums – thanks, Roland!
- for Desktop
- Version 44.0.1 is here. Click and do let us know if you have issues with proxies, antivirus software, and certificates!
What’s your next voyage? I should be heading out to the (hopefully not so) rainy Emerald Isle to meet old friends and hang out with the leprechauns ;-) I hope to see you here next week!
