Tell us about your favorite add-ons for a chance to win one of three Android tablets!

Update: The winners have been chosen!

In 200 words or less, tell us how your favorite Firefox Add-on makes your day more productive, saves you money, or just makes you happy. A special panel of judges will pick 10 finalists, and the AMO community will pick 3 winners. Each winner will receive an Android tablet and be featured on the addons.mozilla.org homepage!

Contest period: April 24, 2012 – June 24, 2012

How to Enter

To enter the contest:

  1. Write a review of your favorite add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org
  2. Send us a link to it using this form

To get the link to your review, click on “permalink” above your review and copy the URL:

Winner Selection

10 finalists will be selected by a panel of judges on or about July 4, 2012. The community will then select the final three winners based on the following criteria:

  • Is your story compelling?
  • How creative is your use of your favorite add-on?
  • Does your review capture the “spirit” of the AMO community?

Voting will end on or about July 18, 2012, and the winners will be announced on or about August 1, 2012.

Judging Panel

  • Ken Saunders | Mozilla Contributor

Ken has been volunteering for Mozilla since 2005 and is the creator and project manager of Access Firefox. He’s also an Add-ons developer, Mozilla Accessibility steward, and a self-proclaimed add-ons junkie, with 56 add-ons enabled (68 installed).

  • Courtney Charet | Mozilla Contributor

Courtney has been a Persona designer and reviewer for over a year. Her Personas adorn the browsers of hundreds of thousands of Firefox users, who love her sparkly, flowing designs.

  • Jorge Villalobos | Add-ons Developer Relations Lead

Jorge is the Add-ons Developer Relations Lead at Mozilla. He manages the add-ons review team, add-on compatibility, and documentation. You’ll usually find him in his native Costa Rica, glued to his laptop and avoiding sunlight.

  • Matej Novak | Mozilla Scribe

Matej is Mozilla’s resident copywriter and all-around word guy. When he’s not working on a website or campaign, you’ll likely find him in a spirited debate about some obscure point of grammar or style—either with someone else or himself.

Prizes

Three winners will each receive:

  • One Android tablet
  • AMO homepage feature that includes your name, photo, and story

Fine Print

  • Up to 3 entries per person per account
  • Open worldwide
  • Entry must be written in English
  • Add-on must be compatible with latest desktop version of Firefox at the time of judging
  • AMO-hosted add-ons only
  • Ok to use a previously written review, or edit an existing review. Does not have to be new.

Ad Block Plus is the tool that makes Internet 2.0 useable. When I visit news or entertainment sites with Ad Block Plus installed, I see no ads, no pop-ups, no animated treasure chests, no flashing “You’re an instant winner!” banners. This one single add on makes the difference between a useful, productive web browsing experience, or one filled with annoying and intrusive advertising. It’s so simple to install and use, you tend to forget it is installed on your system. Ad Block Plus – Don’t surf the Internet without it!

The Keefox add-on has made safe passwords very easy to me. I used keepass for several years to sav e my passwords. However the Keefox add-on forces me to use it as an actual password base together with Firefox instead off its build-in password utility.

I absolutely love No Squint! It seems that as the years go on, the print on the web pages gets smaller and harder to read. With No Squint, it restores the print size back to what it looked like 5 years ago! Thanks so much!

Auto-Fill forms and Secure Login in combination make managing and remembering the passwords I require for multiple work logins, personal email and bill logins, etc. an actual manageable task without requiring the use of or need to sync multiple password managers. Even web based tools that Firefox won’t natively store password data for are easily managed and logged into with ease.

I would say life saving rather that favorite for the Add -on “Yandex TYC +Google PR indicator 1.3.4 .

I was in a highly confused state to believe which website is genuine and which one is not to paying money online for registration .More over Firefox advanced versions do not support Google tool bar.

I am glad that this add on has helped immensely to get the Google Page rank of visited websites and there by boosting up my business by registering to genuine websites .

Thank you “Yandex TYC +Google PR indicator ”

“Auto fill forms” also helped in my business development by filling appropriate information on the web site at a mouse click saving lot of time.

Above all of these “THANK YOU FIREFOX ” You are “UNBEATABLE BROWSER “.

The most important to me is security on internet and reliability of browser. FireFox add-ons enhance the whole experience. Number one would be Abine Taco, then Ad Block Plus, Ghostery, AnonymoX and WOT (but your browsing is logged in and stored on WOT), and Net Video Hunter for downloads of videos.

    ThreadVis

With the ThreadVis add-on, you get one of the coolest thread visualizers ever. Now, you’ll see email conversations organized into topic threads, just like on Gmail, but best of all there’s actually a topic timeline displayed in an interesting color-coded visual display, with each sender identified in the timeline by color.
Click on one of the points in the thread timeline, and that email message pops-up. Basically – you can work through an entire email conversation from the convenience of one single email window.

Usually after watching any youtube video, I cannot watch it after i close it. But after using “Download youtube videos + 12.9.6” i can download any youtube video with a single click and also i can choose the pixcel of that video. It helps me a lot.
And also it has a screenshot option. with the help of screenshot i can take a webpage as a photo or pdf or a part of the webpage as a photo or i can copy a selected area of webpage.
i think it is the best addon.
