Market Insights from the Market Strategy Team
Desktop/Platform
- Google Now is in Chrome for Windows and Mac, [1] in addition to Android and iOS users. [2] 90% of those who have a personal assistant [3] feature on their phone use it because it’s quicker, easier, and more convenient than traditional mobile use. Nearly 60% use it every day and over 80% want to use the same mobile personal assistant across all of their devices – phones, tablets, PCs, cars, TVs, apps and cameras [4], and Google is getting ready to use it along these lines [5]
Mobile/Android
- In a move that shocked many, that defender of standardized everything, Sony, announced that it’s going to stick with it’s Smart Watch platform instead of Google Wear
- 97% of mobile malware is on Android, but that’s really not a huge deal unless you’re on a non-Play store
- Cisco and Google pen an agreement to bring WebEx to Chromebooks, indicating an HTML5 variant of the popular Enterprise conferencing software will be released.
- Xiaomi offers a $130 octa-core phablet. Here come the faster, cheaper chipsets everyone was talking about at MWC. Initial launch in China, but expect to see them outside China before summer.
