Feedback Summary
Desktop
Firefox 6.0.2
- Definitely an increase in hanging/not responding over the last couple weeks and possibly crashier.
- EXC in ev handl: errors still very high.
Firefox 7.0
- Only solid complaint around http in URL bar
- Possibly a bug around attaching files on email (mail.com/MobileMe)?? Filing now.
- And extensions.
Firefox 8.0
- Nothing new, a few complaints about update frequency still
Firefox 9.0
- Crash (no crash reporter) on alice.it bug 687991
- A few complaints that bookmark import doesn’t work from IE (but we’re still broken on 6.0, so no idea why it spiked a little — might be one user wanting attention)
Mobile
- Increased feedback on input for nightly
- Major issue theme is that people don’t like the tab view in landscape
- 43 mobile questions on SUMO this week, 11 unanswered. So, if you are new to Mozilla, answering questions on SUMO is an excellent way to learn about your user’s pain points and learn the answers to commonly asked questions about your product.

UX & User Research
Market Insights
Desktop
Windows 8 at BUILD
- Windows app store was not yet available, but will be the gateway to getting apps into the Windows Metro interface.
- Windows Metro applications are written for a new environment, WinRT, and will be compatible across x86 and ARM, traditional ones will not.
Internet Explorer 10
- Microsoft released Platform Preview 3 (PP3) of IE10 with the Windows 8 preview. PP3 of IE10 will be released on other platforms at a later date.
- The IE10 Metro browser will not support plugins, the traditional desktop browser will.
- IE10 Metro browser is a full screen, “immersive” UX with a swipe interface, navigation at the bottom of the screen, tabs at the top; this can be expected to be the same experience on Windows Phone. The interface appears to be complete.
- IE10 has significant platform updates including 3D visual effects, page layout and local storage. Full list on MSDN.com.

Chrome 14 hits stable channel and includes two significant updates:
- Web Audio API allows for greater audio effects based on web content
- Native Client (NaCl) -supports only Chrome Web Apps at the moment.

Questions, Comments, FYI
- Christian asked if our current mobile flash feeling was that we would leave it on
- Current plan is to land it, have a UX review before Tuesday, and ship with it
- Christian asked if it would be easy to see mobile Flash crashes
- It should as the crashes will be in chrome with content in the stack
- Christian asked if Flash on mobile will lead to a worse experience due to sites offering flash content rather than HTML5 content
- We don’t expose that we support Flash on page load, should be a non-issue
- Christian asked what the experimental add-on sync add-on (whew) EOL plan is
- It should disable and uninstall itself when support hits Firefox
- Christian talked to Thunderbird folks at the all-hands and we agreed it would be good to have them at this meeting
- Should we have a Web Apps update in this meeting? (JP)
