Calendar Community Testday On Thursday, November 13

The next test day will be held on Thursday, November 13th. We want to put email-based scheduling (iTIP/iMIP support) to the acid test on our testday. Please keep in mind both are alpha versions! Therefore you should take following steps:

  • Though we do not expect things to go wrong, we always strongly encourage you to back up your profile, and to do your testing on a “test” profile.
  • Backing up a profile is easy:
    1. Find your profile directory:
      Windows: %AppData%Thunderbird
      Linux: ~/.thunderbird
      MacOSX: ~/Library/Thunderbird
    2. Copy the root of it somewhere else, for example copy the Thunderbird directory and everything below it.
  • Creating a testing profile is also easy:
    1. Launch your application with a ‘-P’ option.
    2. Create a new profile by clicking the ‘Create Profile’ button.
    3. Click ‘Next’, Give it a name like “Testing Profile”, click ‘Finish’.
    4. Select the testing profile, and click the ‘Start Shredder’ button.
  • Remember that you will have to start the application with the -P option during testing so you can pick your testing profile.
  • Once you have finished testing, you can delete the extra profiles, and you will be back to normal. If something goes terribly wrong (although we do not expect it to), close the application, and just replace the profile with the backed up copy. That will reset the application to the way it was before you started testing.

There are also some fixed tb-integration bugs that need to be verified. You simply have to add a comment to the bug report stating what version and operating system you used while verifying the bug fixed.

The outcome of our last testday: 39 tests run and 11 marked ‘failed’. Many thanks go to karora, whose comments in the failed test cases let us file two new bug reports.

Join us in the #calendar-qa IRC channel on Thursday. All the information on the testday is on our usual Test Day wiki page.

Hope to see you in #calendar-qa!

  1. Hi,
In this new lightning when I am in mail mode the today pane actually displays in the status bar? I am using thunderbird 3.0.b1pre with the latest nightly for lightning and the today pane appears in status bar. I would really like to see the today pane as pane on the right side. Is the implementation for the today pane pending or an existing bug? I hope it is a bug or pending implementation.

  2. News for your e-calendar: “Black Friday” is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, where the traditional Christmas shopping season begins. Since Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November, Black Friday is the fourth Friday in November. You erroneously have it on November 24th, that this year is Monday!

  3. Hi,
Has anyone else seen this problem?
    htps://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465864
I see it and because of it I am being discouraged to use the latest nightlies because of this bug. I can reproduce it all the time. Please let me know if you need more information reproducing the problem. Thanks.

  4. Anything new ?

  5. Seems to be a good way to test. And the feedback you get helps you to solve possible problems that may occur. So go on with that.

  6. I can´t open Sunbird. I have uninstalled the previous version but when I install the new one, I get a message box saying “The calendar data in your profile was updated by a newer version of Calendar, and continuing will probably cause the information to be lost or corrupted. Calendar will now quit.” and I can´t start the program. Are there any files that won´t get removed by the uninstaller? If so, which ones and where can I find them? Vista 64 bit.
