Oct. 31 Test Day results

The Calendar QA Team had a successful test day on Tuesday.

  • 57 total bugs addressed
  • 3 new bugs found

We were able to confirm about 20 bugs, and we addressed (asked for more information, reassigned components, works for me, verified fixes etc) over 30 bugs. In the course of the day, we found 3 new bugs.

Thanks to everyone that helped out. The list of helpers has gotten so long, I’m sure I’ll miss someone, and I apologize. But, thanks to: jminta, lilmatt, ssitter, celina63, sebo, nightrat, xfallenangel for moderating and helping set up the test day. Thanks also to all the folks that participated: lambert, mad-max, worzel, mc, mschroeder, unlogic, koen, damian, mattheus123.

Congratulations to our Winners!

Once again, our friends at Linpro AS have agreed to sponsor the prizes for the test day. This was a close race and we
nearly had a tie, but the winners are:

  • mschroeder
  • damian

Thanks to everyone that helped out, and I look forward to seeing you at our next test day on November 14th.

  1. It would have been easier if I was actually able to have permission to verify bugs. “Oh yeah”! Last Place.

  2. I have just upgraded to Firefox 2.0 and have started the shift to Thunderbird for my work system from Outlook 2002. I work at Oracle and we support Thunderbird as a corporate standard now.
I want to load Lightning as an add on to Thunderbird, but an error comes up telling me that Lightening is not compatible with the installed version of Firefox. Just reporting a bug.
I use Windows XP SP2. I haven’t tried it on my Mac yet.

  3. After searching this blog for “Treo”, “hotsync” and “palm” and getting no matches, I gotta say that I can’t believe this isn’t even on the map.
Am I looking in the wrong place? What am I missing?

  4. i screwed up and didn’t read your release notes and tried to install sunbird0.3 over sunbird0.2 without uninstall. now neither will work, and i cannot remove 0.2 it gives the error message:
    uninstall log folder not found
when i try to uninstall 0.2.
please help!!! my company uses mozilla for calendar.

  6. To Robert Parker:
I got the very same error when I downloaded Lightning for the wrong mozilla branch.
If you are using Thunderbird 1.5.0.7 (which you most likely are) you need to download Lightning from the mozilla 1.8 branch.
    Here’s a link:

  7. When will Lightning be able to get the birthdays from Thunderbird-contacts in the address-book?

  8. Robert Parker:
The key is to download the appropriate .xpi to your computer, by right-clicking on it and selecting ‘Save link as’. Once it’s downloaded, from within Thunderbird, select Tools/Extensions, then click ‘Install’ and navigate to find the downloaded xpi. This way you are installing to Thundebird, rather than letting FF try and install the extension into itself.
    The forums at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=46
are a good place for lightning questions, and to see where the project is headed.

  9. could somebody give me the source for the Sunbird theme? I would use the cvs, but for some reason it isnt working for me. preferably give the theme in a “.jar” please.

  10. Oppressed sysadmin

I’ve been looking at using the Darwin Calendar server with Lightning to form a complete office solution. Unfortunately building it on anything other than MacOS or Darwin is a real headache. Is there any chance someone on the team will look at making it play nicely with Slackware, RedHat, etc? The nice calendar is no good to businesses if it can’t be shared.
