Finally! The first release candidate (RC!) of our 0.9 release is available! I know you’ve been waiting a long time for it, so grab yourself a build. Here are the links:

The Lightning builds contain all available locales (30). To download a localized Sunbird build, you’ll need adjust the link and replace the “en-US” string with the locale code of your locale, e.g. “ko” for Korean.
We really need your help to complete the rest of the L10N Checks and the Update testing, as you can see from our Test Plan.
The Update Testing is of special concern to us, because historically this has always been where we have found critical issues in our release candidate builds. So, please take a look. Feel free to update the test plan wiki or leave a comment on this post with what you tested, so we can track what has been done versus what is still remaining to do.

Hey – I just wanted to say what an awesome thing Sunbird it, I went out looking for a calendar, and the first one I find is Sunbird, and it has been working amazingly since. I have one request though, and I was not sure where to submit it.
Above the calendar, there is a box showing the events for that day, the next seven weeks, or the next month I would like to request an option so that I can see what events there are tomorrow.

hey – I downloaded the 0.8 and found that I can’t add any event nor task… updated to this new 0.9 rc1, but the the problem is still there… :((
error console says: Error: aCalendar has no properties

I just installed 0.9rc1. Looks great, but I found a bug when I get invitations from people who are using outlook. A friend of mine invited me to a meeting, I accepted the invitation, then the event was canceled and I removed the event from my calendar. Then every time my friend sends me new invitations I can not accept those invitations, instead I can read that “This message contains an invitation to an event” or “This message contains a cancellation of an event” but I do not get any accept buttons to click on.
Now I have investigated the reason why I get the error above. Of some reason my calendar has been set to “Read Only”. I do not know why though.
Is there a x86_64 version for linux available for us yet?

I have set up sunbird .8 and seamonkey1.1.11 on a puppy linux system. I’m tring to use the linkembed feature in the calendar so I can click on a link in my calendar and have it come up in seamonkey. But right now it is dead. How can I set the browser preferences in sunbird .8? Thanks, Dave
Please, oh please, tell me why the 0.9 rc1 of lightning is STILL not compatible with Shredder 3.0b1pre!!! This is supposed to be the biggest update to Thunderbird… having an integrated calendar… yet it STILL isn’t compatible!
I like the calendar view, looking much nicer and cleaner than 0.8, keep up the good work.

Lightning will use the language of your Thunderbird installation. It should do that automatically.

we do not have Linux x86-64 builds, as we do not have build machines for this. If someone wants to contribute builds to us, we would be happy to take them.

Sunbird will take the default settings of your OS. There are no special browser settings in Sunbird.

Sunbird 0.9 will not support TB3 nightly builds (called Shredder). We are fully concentrating on the stable TB2 builds. After 0.9 is out of the door, we will shift our focus to TB3.
@all: If you encounter issues with 0.9 and use calendar related extensions (e.g. sogo connector, sync extensions, …) please try to disable them and retest. It might be possible that this extensions are not yet updated for 0.9.

I run TB with -UILocale pl mode and it helped but only partially :( Not all words are translated :( Espacially in Today pane …
I’m looking for the possibility to connect to other calenders on a Microsoft Windows exchange server. The most co-workers use Entourage on a Mac, I want to use Thunderbird in combination with Lightning. Can somebody help me with this issue: marco@meestervakman.be
when will the email reminders be funtional?
I am running TB 2.0.0.17 with Lightning .9
I am not able to accept events generate by Outlook. If I click on accept, a dialog box pops up asking me to select a calendar – the list box is empty (I only have one calendar).
Has anyone encountered this problem?
