[September 11, 2008] Lightning/Sunbird Status Update

Now that 0.9 RC1 is out, I thought some of you might be interested in the latest news on what patches made it into the RC1. We fixed 34 bugs in the last two weeks and most of the bugs in the list below made it into the RC1 (I’m not 100% sure, which bugs didn’t make it, sorry). 1. You are doing an incredible job! 0.9rc1 is great, and i didn’t discovered a bug yet.
    Thanks for your effort!

  2. 0.9rc1 works great (so far)! Very nice improvements, especially the GUI. One question: I use the google calendar provider, and wondered about the status of offline support? Is this a configuration I have to enable? Is it still experimental?
    Thanks

  3. Hi!!
I tried to upgrade from version 0.8 and i get problems with importing the different calendar i had..
    My problem or bug?!?
    Great job and thanks

  4. When I try to run 0.9rc1, I get an error message saying “The calendar data in your profile was updated by a newer version of Sunbird, and continuing will probably cause the information to be lost or corrupted. Sunbird will now quit.”
There should´t be any previous data, since I just uninstalled previous version. Any suggestions?

  5. 0.9rc1 still seems to contain a bug which does not let me work with the calendar properly.
Here is the description of that bug:
I use a solution described at http://rasterweb.net/raster/2004/09/10/20040910110000/ to read my calendar from Microsoft Exchange. This worked fine in Lightning/Sunbird 0.7, but after updating to 0.8 and now to 0.9rc1 the calendar only shows up appointments which other persons created and invited me. Appointments which I created myself on the Exchange are not shown. I don’t see any error messages in the console.

  6. I think the today pane in the calendar view is broken again. The pane collapses when I switch to mail mode and switch back to calendar mode.

  7. John,
you can implement offline caching in the calendar properties dialog. And yes, it is still experimental.
    Bitt,
without knowing the calendar file, it’s hard to diagnose your problem. I would ask you to file a bug in bugzilla and attach your calendar file in the bug.
    Magnus,
you probably have some leftovers in your profile folder. Search for a file called storage.sdb and delete it. That will delete all your events, but that shouldn’t matter since you say that you don’t have any previous data.
    dom,
no idea really. I don’t know that script. Maybe the reason is something on our side, but maybe something changed on the Exchange server?
    aerosmith,
that shouldn’t happen. Please file a bug.

  8. Simon
Where is this file, storage.sdb, supposed to be located? The sunbird folder is long gone ad Windows can´t find the file.

However any meeting sent to my mates outlook cannot be accepted. I am going to test via my Outlook at work and will let you know
